Specifically contemporary debates on the mission and regulation of the police in contemporary North America are examined, including issues such as police‐community relations, police use of force, police technology and social control, police training, changing police methods, and private policing. This seminar style course introduces students to interpretive, critical and postmodern theories on policing.
